From racing to entrepreneurship

Enzo Ferrari was born on February 20, 1898 in Modena, Italy. From an early age he was fascinated by speed and technology. As a child, Enzo often spent time in his father's garage, where he had his first contact with cars. His passion for speed soon led him to motorsport. In 1919 he started as an amateur driver for Alfa Romeo, where he gained his first experience on the racing circuits.

In the early years of his career, Enzo quickly proved that he had an exceptional talent. He took part in numerous races, winning one victory after another. His style on the track was aggressive and passionate, and it did not take long for the Italian motorsport community to notice him. He eventually became team manager of Alfa Romeo and started to organize his own racing teams. This was the moment when his name started to become more and more known, both in Italy and in the international motorsport world.

But despite his success as a racing driver, Enzo Ferrari had to make one of the most drastic decisions of his career in 1932. After losing his teammate Alberto Ascari in a racing accident, Enzo began to question whether he wanted to continue racing. The loss of his good friend brought an end to his active career as a racing driver, but it set him on a path that would eventually lead to the creation of the legendary Ferrari brand.

The founding of Ferrari

In 1939, Enzo Ferrari founded his own company, Auto Avio Costruzioni, which was renamed Ferrari in 1947. Initially, the company did not produce cars, but instead was involved in building engines for other brands and producing parts for motorsports. It was not until 1947 that the very first Ferrari rolled off the production line: the Ferrari 125 S, equipped with a V12 engine that would lay the foundation for the famous motorcycles that would define the brand.

Enzo Ferrari's vision was simple, yet audacious: to create the best, fastest, most beautiful cars in the world. With the 125 S, Ferrari began a journey that would transform the company into the unmistakable symbol of luxury and speed. Over the years, Ferrari became synonymous with success in Formula 1. But the marque wasn't just a success on the track; it also became a status symbol, a name associated with prestige and sophistication among the elite.

In the decades that followed, Ferrari continued to innovate, both in technology and design. Enzo was focused on creating cars that not only performed, but also evoked an emotional response from the driver. It was that magical combination of speed, design and passion that made Ferrari unique and paved the way for future generations of Ferraris to conquer the road.
