Description
This car was partially restored and remained in Mr. Levino's possession until 1965, when it was driven occasionally and displayed at early events. It was then purchased by collector Jack Tallman of Decatur, Illinois. Mr. Tallman undertook a complete restoration of the car under the guidance of early Packard specialist Leonard Davis. He installed more traditional and attractive fenders, placed the two seats at a more playful and comfortable angle, and installed a "mechanic's chair" on the left fender. The finished car, as flamboyant and dramatic as one could wish, remained a centerpiece of The Tallman Collection almost until the end of its life.
In 2011, Sam and Emily Mann acquired the Packard from Mr. Tallman, joining several other prestigious Brass Era cars in their collection. The car is largely in its Davis restoration, which is well-preserved for its age, a testament to the quality of the craftsmanship and the care it has received since then. The Manns have thoroughly enjoyed keeping the car running smoothly, enjoying several long-distance tours over the past 14 years, including at least 10 of the 800-mile Mozart Tours and similar events in New England and Pennsylvania.
