When Nissan took over DAT in 1934, the name “Datson” was changed to “Datsun” because “son” also meant “loss” (損 are) means in the Japanese.
The Datsun name became internationally known through the Z series sports cars and the compact Cherry. From 1958 to 1986, only Nissan cars for export markets were designated Datsun. In 2022, the Datsun brand came to an end again after less than ten years.
This Datsun 160J SSS was used for rallies and sponsored by Van Haren Beton.
