Invicta 4,5 Liter S-type “Low Chassis” Sports

Invicta S Type, chassis S39

This car, the most historic of all Invicta cars, has not been on the open market for more than 60 years. This car was the inspiration for the rebirth of the Invicta and the creation of the Invicta S1. The S39 was by far the first and as far as we know the only “Works” Invicta. As such, the car has always been entered for races at Brooklands by Major Cairns, Invicta's sales manager.

In 1931, its first year of racing, the car entered at least 22 races at Brooklands, including the Double Twelve, a 24-hour race which it also finished. The S39 was built and maintained exclusively as a racing car. A previous owner, the late Jack Bad Marsh, knew the people who maintained the car and set it up for racing as the Invicta Works.
