Description
De Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is a sports car from the German automobile manufacturer Mercedes-Benz which was built from 2009 to 2014. The car is powered by a 6,2-liter V8 with 571 hp. The car is seen as a reincarnation of the legendary 300SL Gullwing. Both cars have a long nose, the seats are relatively far back, and both cars have gull-wing doors. On the 300SL Gullwing this was necessary due to the construction of the frame, on the SLS AMG it is a design element.
The SLS AMG was first seen as a test car at the end of 2007. The body of the Dodge Viper was then used, albeit modified and covered with black tape and plastic attachments. The car was seen with its own body for the first time in 2008. The car was introduced at the IAA in Frankfurt in September 2009.
The SLS AMG has taken the place of the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, which went out of production in 2009. By the way, it has McLaren also introduced a new sports car, the MP4-12C.
The SLS AMG uses the M159 engine. In the SLS it produces 571 hp at 6.800 rpm. The maximum torque of 650 Nm is reached at 4.750 rpm. From 0 to 100 km/h is done after 3,8 seconds, the top of the car is limited to 317 km/h. For better weight distribution, the engine is placed just behind the front axle and the gearbox together with the differential between the rear wheels; the so-called transaxle design.
