Description
This rare example of a little-known marque is mounted on an early Watsonian sports seat and powered by the famous Granville Bradshaw air/oil-cooled engine. 'NH 5355' was tested for The Fifth Vintage Road Test Journal (copy of article available) by none other than the esteemed founder of the VMCC, CE 'Titch' Allen, who recalled that the outfit had first belonged to the prominent motorcycle dealer and Northampton Cedos board member, Percy Spokes. Titch enjoyed his outing on the Cedos, commenting on the suitability of the lusty Bradshaw engine for sidecar work and praising the team's impeccable handling. 'They should have advertised it as the 350 that handles like a 500,' he declared. 'It certainly is a big bang. Smooth it out too. You'd never believe it's only a 350 when you depress the clutch.' The flywheel weight is generous, which helps, but the bike has a lovely solid kick-off and accelerates as if the chain isn't there.'
Bob Lines, only the second owner, restored this Cedos in 2001 before selling it to the immediate previous owner. The current vendor, a VSCC marque specialist, purchased the machine at Bonhams' Harrogate sale in November 2009 (lot 376). A regular Banbury Run competitor, finishing on every occasion, 'NH 5335' is described as being in generally good order with very good mechanicals. The machine is offered with vintage logbook, various early photographs, Banbury Run DVD and V5/V5C registration documents.
