Description
The Piaggio Ape, also called Vespacar or Ape (Italian for at, pronounced as apee), is a light, three-wheeled company car. The Ape has been produced by the Italian manufacturer since 1948 Piaggio supplied and is mainly available in the single-person version (Ape 50) or two-person version (P2 or TM).
In India en Mexico produces Bajaj car Vespa cars under license. These are related to the tuktuk, which runs in Thailand, among other places.
However, Vespa/Piaggio also makes many more models, both with three and four wheels, usually with one two-stroke engine with mixed lubrication. There are also diesel and electric versions. The maximum (achievable) speed varies per model, but is usually around 50 to 60 km/h. However, the usual speed is approximately 25 to 45 km/h. The speed one is allowed to drive also depends on the type of driving license. Most are intended for transporting small loads, but there are also full-size ones microcars made. One has been in effect since September 2005 License plate requirement in the Netherlands.
