- This rare Steyr-Puch 500D, a license-built version of FIAT's ubiquitous Nuova 500, was originally registered on June 14, 1960 to its first owner in Frankfurt, who owned it for five years. The next custodian owned the car until 1968, when it was registered in Braunschweig, Germany.
In more recent years the car has been restored and sensibly upgraded to the much sportier TR II specification. The engine has been enlarged from the original 499cc to 660cc and equipped with a Porsche HKZ Ignition System and Weber 36 carburetor, while the exhaust is now a Steyr-Puch Monte Carlo type with twin pipes. In addition, FIAT 126 suspension and steering were used; the braking system has been upgraded to dual-circuit operation; a Steyr-Puch 700E Estate gearbox installed; and moved the battery forward for better weight distribution. Porsche seats (from a 914) are mounted together with a Gerstl-Sports steering wheel and Porsche instruments. All improvements were duly noted in the German registration documents.
Strikingly finished in red with black interior, whilst remaining tastefully understated, this charming 'pocket rocket' is sure to provide an entertaining ride! This unique car is offered with its original old German Kraftfahrzeugbrief (cancelled) and current German registration documents.
