Bussing 8000 S13

The Büssing is an iconic heavy transport vehicle from post-war Germany and was widely used in Europe and the Middle East in the 50s and 60s.

The 8000 S13 was built from the late 50s to the mid-60s, as Europe rebuilt its road and industrial infrastructure.

The "S" in S13 stands for upright motor, meaning the engine was mounted vertically. The "13" refers to its displacement of approximately 13 liters.

The vehicle reached a top speed of around 63 km/h and fuel consumption was quite high, around 26 liters per 100 km.

The Büssing 8000 S13 was one of the most impressive trucks in (West) Germany in the 50s: long bonnets, heavy diesel engines, audible sound.

Büssing was a renowned truck/bus manufacturer in Germany, founded in 1903. In 1971, Büssing was acquired by MAN.

Before stricter legislation, it was allowed to couple two trailers behind this truck, which presented quite a challenge for the driver.
