Mack RN (Lanova)

The Mack RN was a heavy-duty truck manufactured by the American manufacturer Mack Trucks, used for transporting equipment over long distances during World War II. They were primarily used by the British Army. The official American model designation was: Truck, 10-ton, 6x4, Cargo.

Before the outbreak of World War II, France had purchased 210 heavy trucks from Mack for transporting tanks, the Mack EXBX. However, the fighting in France ended before the trucks were delivered.

Instead of France the destination England was chosen and it was put into use there.

The RN series runs from 1 to 20, but the differences are not particularly significant. Each order received its own number, even though the design remained unchanged. The enormous demand for trucks for military use could not be met by British industry itself.

In 1940, Britain placed an initial order with Mack for 90 heavy trucks, type designation RN-1. These trucks closely resembled the vehicles that had reached British troops through the French order, but were not specifically equipped for tank transport.
