Description
The Mercedes-Benz LP 312 was originally a medium-duty truck/bus from the 50s, but a very special variant has become famous: the LP 312 racing car transporter that Alfa Romeo used in the 50s and 60s.
Mercedes-Benz also used the LP 312 for their own factory racing cars (such as the famous 300 SLR and Formula 1 cars).
There are very few original LP 312 race-transporter examples left in existence.
The forward-steering design (no nose, cabin on the engine) gave extra loading length, so that even long sports cars could fit on it.
The Mercedes-Benz LP312 was produced from 1952 to 1962.
Sprayed in the Alfa Romeo team's house style as a tribute to the many titles with drivers such as Nino Farina and Juan Manuel Fangio.
Alfa Romeo already had a successful history in Grand Prix racing before entering Formula 1 in 1950.
