amphicar 770
The Amphicar is a unique chapter in automotive history. It is a car that can sail and drive, yet it is a compromise. It is, therefore, a boat that does not move optimally through the water and a car that is not among the best performing on the road. It is made of considerably thicker steel and is consequently somewhat heavier. It has two propellers and steers with the front wheels. Any water entering can be discharged using a bilge pump. The engine is that of the British Triumph Herald. At the time, the Amphicar cost about as much as two Volkswagens. Approximately 3000 were made. This particular example has been fully restored in the Netherlands and looks virtually new. The color is light blue with a blue and white interior. Ready to launch!
