The Aston Martin Vantage is a series of hand-built sports cars from the British car manufacturer Aston Martin. Aston Martin has previously used the name "Vantage" on high-performance variants of their existing GT models, most notably the Virage-based car from the 1990s. The modern car, on the other hand, is the most streamlined and agile car in Aston's lineup. As such, it is intended as a more targeted model to reach potential buyers of cars like the Porsche 911, as well as the exotic sports and GT cars with which Aston Martins traditionally compete. In their 2006 reader survey, Car Design News readers voted the Aston Martin V8 Vantage as the best design of the current production car. The survey results were based on more than 1.000 responses, most from working automotive designers and industrial and automotive design students. The Vantage was also named one of Automobile magazine's 2007 "All-Stars" for its performance, handling and design. The V8 Vantage is also one of only two cars to be added to 'The DB9 Section' on BBC's Top Gear. At the 2005 awards, Jeremy Clarkson named the V8 Vantage the best sounding car of the year and the coolest car of the year.
