BMW Isetta 600. 1958. Fully restored.
General information: The BMW 600 is a microcar developed by Bayerischen Motoren Werke (BMW) from the BMW Isetta. Like the BMW Isetta, it has one large front door as well as one side door. The engine concept is derived from BMW's motorcycle boxer engine. It was built from December 1957 to November 1959. During the development of the 600, BMW used the front suspension and the front door of the Isetta. To transport four people, a longer chassis, a different rear suspension, and a larger engine were used. The chassis consisted of two longitudinal beams made of rectangular tubes reinforced with crossmembers made of round tubes. Independent rear suspension was used. The wheelbase was 1700 mm, the front track width 1220 mm, and the rear track width 1160 mm. The engine of the 600 was derived from the 590cc twin-cylinder boxer engine of the R 67/3 motorcycle-sidecar combination. This engine, which delivered 19,5 hp at 4500 rpm, was mounted behind the rear axle.

The BMW 600 is a microcar developed from the BMW Isetta by the Bayerischen Motoren Werke (BMW). Like the BMW Isetta, it has one large front door but also one side door. The engine concept comes from the BMW motorcycle boxer engine. It was built from December 1957 to November 1959. In order to be able to transport four people, a longer chassis, a different rear suspension and a larger engine were used. The chassis consisted of two longitudinal members made of rectangular tubes reinforced with cross members made of round tubes. An independent wheel suspension was used at the rear. The wheelbase was 1700 mm, the track width at the front 1220 mm and the track width at the rear 1160 mm.
The engine of the 600 was derived from the 590cc two-cylinder boxer engine of the R 67/3 motorcycle sidecar combination. This engine, which delivered 19,5 hp at 4500 rpm, was mounted behind the rear axle. It came standard with a manual four-speed gearbox; a semi-automatic gearbox from Saxomat was available as an option. The rear seat was accessible via a side door on the right side of the vehicle.[1][6].According to the test reports at the time, this car ("large Isetta") stood out due to its good build quality and exemplary roadholding. Due to its unusual, space-saving design with a front door and only one side door for the rear seats, the BMW 600 found few buyers in relation to its market segment. An additional reason for the low sales figures was probably that with its high sales price of DM 3985, it was at the price level of the VW Beetle. This offered more space inside and also a boot; The BMW 600 only had a small storage compartment behind the rear seat. 34.813 units were built in just over two years. The car was also available with the Saxomat automatic clutch as an option, but this hardly convinced buyers. 4020 cars for overseas export were equipped with bumper bars and "Sealed-Beam" headlamps.
