Maserati Twin Turbo

The Maserati Biturbo was a series of upper-mid-range passenger cars produced by the Italian car manufacturer Maserati between 1981 and 1994. When Maserati was acquired by De Tomaso in 1976, the latter had ambitious plans for the brand: Maserati intended to launch an affordable sports car to replace the more expensive GT models, such as the Maserati Bora and the Maserati Khamsin, both of which were developed when Maserati was still owned by Citroën. By using a small turbo engine, Maserati was able to deliver considerable power at a relatively low price in the upper-mid-range segment. The engine occupied relatively little space under the hood, making the Biturbo a compact car. Between 1987 and 1989, a facelift was implemented, giving the original angular design more curves. Mechanically, various improvements were also made to the suspension and power steering, and the cars were equipped with ventilated disc brakes at the front.
