The Porsche 928 is an automobile manufactured by Porsche in Germany between 1977 and 1995.

When Porsche launched this car, which was very advanced for its time, in 1977, the intention was for it to succeed the famous Porsche 911. However, buyers thought otherwise; they continued to purchase the 911 in large numbers, and as a result, the 928 was never able to replace the 911. Initially, the car sold well, but due to its ever-increasing purchase price and the associated depreciation, the car lost popularity. The price rose from DM 55.000 in 1977 to DM 164.600 in 1994. Production dropped from approximately 23 vehicles per day to less than two per day. Nevertheless, this model remained in production through 1995, and a total of around 61.000 were produced in Zuffenhausen.

Properties
The 928 is a sports coupe that is constructed in a special way. At the front is a water-cooled aluminum V8, the gearbox is located above the rear axle, this is called a transaxle and ensures better weight distribution. The car was available with a 3-speed automatic gearbox, from the 1984 model year with a 4-speed gearbox, or with a manual "dogleg" gearbox. The rear suspension is designed in such a way that the rear wheels steer slightly in fast corners. In 1986 the 16-valve engine became a 32-valve. The hood, front wings and doors are made of aluminum. The body is completely galvanized, the front, the back and the sill cover are made of plastic. Furthermore, everything is electric or pneumatic, there is automatic climate control with air conditioning, and sometimes the entire interior is made of leather (optional). The fact that it is a technically complex vehicle is evident from the more than 1000 plug connections and three kilometers of electrical cabling in the car.

It is one of the first cars to be delivered with ABS starting from model year 1986. In 1989, Porsche began supplying a digital dashboard with on-board computer features. From model year 1990, the car was equipped with tire pressure sensors (RDK) and a hydraulically controlled limited-slip differential (PSD) to optimally regulate traction on the wheels.

Performance
Porsche advertised this car with the slogan: "from 0 to 100 km/h and back to 0 in just 10 seconds" to indicate that both acceleration and braking power were above average.

The Porsche 928 won the "Car of the Year" award in 1978, making it the only sports car to ever win this title. On August 7, 1986, Al Holbert broke the speed record for sports coupes at the Bonneville Salt Flats with the 928 S4, clocking 275 km/h (171 mph).

In 928, the 1993-hour speed record was broken with a standard 24 GTS. The car was simply driven on public roads from Austria to the Nardò Ring in Italy. On this circuit, 24 kilometers were covered in 6377,25 hours, which is an average speed of 265,72 km per hour. After this drive, completed by four Austrians on the initiative of private driver Franz Doppler, the Porsche 928 GTS was driven back on public roads under its own power.

This beautiful 928 S4 presented here is in the color dark blue metallic with a gray leather interior. The car was originally delivered in Japan and has driven 119000 km there and was perfectly maintained before it was transported to Germany. This Porsche is equipped with a sliding roof and a Porsche navigation system. The enclosed folder contains the maintenance booklet, the manuals and the birth certificate. Furthermore, we find multiple invoices from the Porsche specialist PS Klassik, including a timing belt change at 127000 km and many invoices from Porsche Zentrum Hofheim, in other words a perfectly maintained 928 S4. !
