Porsche B 1600 Super
The most significant difference between the 356 B and the A-model was the higher headlights and the less rounded line of the front fenders. The bumpers were also positioned higher, allowing for air intakes for the new light alloy drum brakes in the front skirt. However, the drag coefficient increased to 0,398. The Porsche emblem was embossed on the hubcaps. The Super 90 and Carrera (other models available as an option) received a balance spring on the rear axle to reduce oversteer and prevent rear-end drift when cornering at high speed. It was a single-leaf spring supported in the center by the differential, with both ends attached to the axle tubes via tie rods and rubber elements. Regarding the possibility of rear-end drift, Ferry Porsche said: “The tendency toward oversteer or understeer is no longer determined solely by the axle load distribution, but by the chassis setup.”

The Porsche Crest was embossed in the wheel covers. Super 90 and Carrera (other models available as an option) were fitted with a balance spring on the rear axle to reduce oversteer and counteract rear sway when cornering at high speed. This was a single-leaf spring that rested against the differential in the center, with both ends attached to the axle tubes via tie rods and rubber elements. Regarding the possibility of rear swerve, Ferry Porsche said: "The tendency to oversteer or understeer is no longer determined solely by the axle load distribution, but by the chassis setup. A rear-engined car with an axle load distribution of 55% rear and 45% front can be converted to understeer if desired. However, Porsche considers a slight tendency to oversteer safer and therefore more beneficial."
For the 1962 model year, the 356 B underwent the following changes, among others: bonnet with two air intake grilles, front or trunk lid with an almost straight end, fuel filler neck on the outside under a flap on the right front fender, flatter tank to allow for a larger trunk, larger front and rear windows.
The Porsche offered here is a B-type and has a 75 hp Super engine. It has been fully restored, so it drives, shifts, brakes, and steers perfectly. The car is finished in metallic silver with a beautiful red leather interior. A beautiful 356 for the enthusiast.
